NEW ADDITION

My friend Debby gave me a set of salt and pepper shakers to add to my collection. She happened to go into a resale shop today and bought them. Of course my cabinet is filled to the brim right now!!! Where will these cows fit?

CONQUERING CLUTTER

We love stuff. We hate stuff. How did we get so much? And how can we ever dig out? Clutterers are interesting people. They’re creative people with a lot of interests. I think that pretty much describes me to a tee! I have a lot of "CLUTTER BUDDIES" out there I bet. Things cannot bring us happiness. If your house is full of clutter, all the blessings that could fill your house can't get in. The good news is it doesn't matter where you start. Just grab a trash bag and start dancing what Peter Walsh calls the Trash Bag Tango. http://www.oprah.com/experts/experts_landing.jhtml Follow the link above and then scroll down to Peter Walsh's name and click on it. Helpful videos will start to help you de-clutter your house. I was told to clean out my garage today. I am NOT happy!!!

KNIT HAT

I made this hat for my friend Debby. She is going through chemo and lost all her hair. She loves the snug fit of this knitted cap that she wants me to make more of them to match different outfits. I am going to take her to the knit store to pick out yarn that she likes.

HUMOR

I think I have a great sense of humor and my friends will back me up on that. I really enjoy finding cartoons, videos, or jokes that touch me. Laughing is great medicine for whatever gets you down! *************************************************************************************

KNITTING LIKE CRAZY

Now that I have taught myself to knit these adorable baby hats I can't stop! It is mindless and easy to do while watching TV. I would love to put together a group to sit and knit them for either hospital babies or make them a bit larger for chemo patients who lose their hair. It would make a great mitzvah project.

THEY ROCKETED US TO THE FUTURE

The February "TAKE IT FURTHER" challenge is a REMEMBER WHEN from long ago. So I started thinking about all my favorite cartoons from my childhood. Do you remember The Jetsons? For those of you that don't know the series, it is like The Flintstones of the future. It was so much fun to see all the electronic gadgets they made up. This cartoon was a prime time animated television series that first aired on Sunday nights from 1962-1963. They lived in a retro-futuristic utopia! ************************************************************************************* George Jetson was a loving family man who always seems to make the wrong decision. ************************************************************************************* Jane Jetson was always looking for a new look and finding ways to make life as pleasant as possible for poor George. ************************************************************************************* Judy Jetson was about 16 years old. Her prime interests: boys, clothes, dating, guys and going out. ************************************************************************************* Elroy Jetson was about 10 years old and a genius in all space sciences. He attends Little Dipper School. ************************************************************************************* Astro was the dog. Not always so smart but smart enough to be able to talk. (sounds like talking) Astro loves George and shows it every time George gets home!

BABY O BABY

I have had such a terrible time trying to knit hats. Of course I am teaching myself how to do it and that has been a real challenge.! Last night I finally figured it out. These are knitted all the way and sewn up on the sides. I started with baby hats and will try my hand at a regular size next.

LEMON STUDY

This was so upsetting to me that I had to share it with everyone. I am so guilty of using restaurant lemons that I even ask for a dish of extra lemons with my water. I will not do it anymore and YOU SHOULDN'T EITHER!!!!! Watch this video by clicking the link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeye8wnBJoU

BABY QUILTS

I am getting ready to start two baby quilts this week. Yesterday I had fun shopping for the fabrics at Jo Anns. I bought this book when I was in Seattle. I will use two patterns out of it. They will be paper pieced quilts. I scaled down the patterns by 75% so they will be smaller. I am using the Aunt Grace fabrics in the quilts along with the batiks. I can't wait to put them together!

MY MANDOLIN

We are a bluegrass family. Not like the people who tour the country and play around festivals living out of a trailer every month. But my husband started to play the banjo when he was in high school. He made a name for himself then. He introduced me to this genre of music when I married him. We attended the famous Telluride Bluegrass Festival about four years ago. It was fantastic! I was really hooked after that and so I decided a few years ago to take up playing the mandolin. That way we could make beautiful music together! Ha... I just started taking lessons again. It is very hard finding teachers so I hope this one works out.

SURFERS

I wanted to share this picture of two surfers that my daughter made two years ago. If you look closely at it you will see that it is made up of tiny punched out dots from colored paper. Only the water is collaged with strips. I think the whole family was up late that night gluing dots down so it would be ready on time.

ONE SHEET

Entries for an art contest at the Hirshorn Modern Art Gallery in DC. It is the Smithsonian's Museum of International Modern and Contemporary Art. The rule was that the artist could use only one sheet of paper.
