WHY BLOG

A study done by the University of California in 2009 found that putting your feelings into words can significantly reduce stress levels. SEE, what I am doing here is good for me!
Ha...
Something else I love to do is draw in my art journals. Here are three pages I have done lately. So pick up your markers and create something of your own today.

POLLY WANT A CRACKER?

We attended a wedding at the Ft. Worth Zoo last month. During the reception they paraded around different animals and birds. Here are photos I took of two different ones: I think the parrot would make a cool quilt! I just signed up to take a class at the upcoming International Quilt Festival that is held in Houston November 4-7 th. I hope I make the class because it will teach me how to use my photos to make a quilt. That is the next technique I want to learn. Today I am sewing the sleeve and label on my Hoffman Challenge Quilt. I can't believe I am done with this project. Now I will go back to the one I started years ago during Hurricane Ike. Photos tomorrow...

STIFF

This morning I thought I would have to turn in my Hoffman Challenge quilt with curls at the bottom. Thank goodness for Quiltart. I posted about the trouble I was having and someone recommended "VIAGRA". (that was a joke) But seriously I bought this stuff called "STIFFY". It worked perfectly.

RAINY MUSINGS

Main Entry: rainy Pronunciation: \ˈrā-nē\ Function: adjective Inflected Form(s): rain·i·er; rain·i·est Date: before 12th century

Gee, when will the rain stop? I think we are in for a long summer of it with all these tropical depressions they are predicting. Rainy days are fun at first. You can get things around the house done and catch up on all your TV programs. Maybe manage a quick trip to the grocery store so you can get the ingredients to bake cookies or make an awesome dinner. After all, driving in rain is fun if you only have to go a short distance.
But then the boredom sets in.
What do you do on a rainy day? My Hoffman Challenge quilt is almost finished. I can't believe I am so close to mailing it off. I still have to make the sleeve and will do that by next week. I can't share what it looks like but I will tell you that I am calling it "PARADISE LOST". It was my attempt in thinking about the Gulf oil spill and how devastating it has been!

WINDOW WASHER

Months ago I entered a photo contest that was being held by our local community magazine. The July issue came out yesterday and guess what? Yep, my photo of the window washer won a 4th place. The only problem is they called me Katy instead of Kathy. Oh well... You can see all the images if you click the link here:
