Every time you go to the gas station, you probably wonder like I do: Why are gas prices so high right now?
It’s a simple question that deserves an honest answer. The most common explanation we hear is that these high prices are the result of basic supply and demand. This view says that growing worldwide oil consumption has created more demand than supply.
That view is simply wrong.
In the beginning, God created the Heavens and the Earth and populated the Earth with broccoli, cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow and red vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.
Then using God's great gifts, Satan created Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream and Krispy Creme Donuts. And Satan said, "You want chocolate with that?" And Man said, "Yes!" and Woman said, "and as long as you're at it, add some sprinkles." And they gained 10 pounds. And Satan smiled.
And God created the healthful yogurt that Woman might keep the figure that Man found so fair. And Satan brought forth white flour from the wheat, and sugar from the cane and combined them. And Woman went from size 6 to size 14.
So God said, "Try my fresh green salad." And Satan presented Thousand-Island Dressing, buttery croutons and garlic toast on the side. And Man and Woman unfastened their belts following the repast.
God then said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil in which to cook them." And Satan brought forth deep fried fish and chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained more weight and his cholesterol went through the roof.
God then created a light, fluffy white cake, named it "Angel Food Cake," and said, "It is good." Satan then created chocolate cake and named it "Devil's Food."
God then brought forth running shoes so that His children might lose those extra pounds. And Satan gave cable TV with a remote control so Man would not have to toil changing the channels And Man and Woman laughed and cried before the flickering blue light and gained pounds.
Then God brought forth the potato, naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fried them. And Man gained pounds.
God then gave lean beef so that Man might consume fewer calories and still satisfy his appetite. And Satan created McDonald's and its 99-cent double cheeseburger. Then said, "You want fries with that?" And Man replied, "Yes! And super size them!" And Satan said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest.
God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery. Then Satan created HMOs. Thought for the day..

After doing so much research yesterday on the dog we are adopting I found out that he is not a full blooded border terrier. I just hope he turns out to be an excellent family member. We are picking him up this afternoon.
I am going to adopt a baby from the Humane Society. We found him yesterday when Avery and I went looking. I want a walking buddy. Ever since Simone passed away I have missed taking my long walks around the neighborhood. Zoey can't keep up with me. So I took my camera and took lots of pictures of the pitiful looks I was getting. Everyone was begging us to take them home! I decided on this one below.
I am trying to decide on names for him. I have a few days until they release him to me and to prepare Zoey for a little brother. Ha...
Taking pictures of people and their pets has always been something I have been interested in. I started this project two years ago and decided to pick it back up again. My daughter even used it as the basis for her art concentration last year. We all know how well she has done with her art portfolio!!! The latest honor was receiving a "GOLD KEY" award in our region for her art portfolio through the Scholastic Art & Writing Contest for 2008. 6,000 portfolios were submitted and only 6oo were chosen to be sent to NYC for the National Competition. I will definitely keep you updated. Here are two more photos I took today. I haven't been able to edit them yet so give me some time.

I discovered EBAY selling this week. I have always surfed around EBAY for years but never tried to sell anything on it. Well, I had some tickets to a concert that we couldn't go to. I decided to try selling them on there. Guess what? They went in less than 24 hours!!! Talk about thrilled. WOW!!! Now I want to go through everything I own and try and sell something else. I am hooked.

Kimya Dawson, a former member of the band The Moldy Peaches, had her songs play in the film Juno. Her recent band, ANTSY PANTS, has this song featured in the link above called "TREE HUGGER", from the movie.
Jason Reitman's "Juno" is just about the best movie of the year. It is very smart, very funny and very touching; it begins with the pacing of a screwball comedy and ends as a portrait of characters we have come to love. Strange, how during Juno's hip dialogue and cocky bravado, we begin to understand the young woman inside, and we want to hug her. Diablo Cody won an oscar for writing the screen play, "JUNO". She is originally from Chicago, Illinois, and moved to Minnesota to live with her Internet boyfriend, Jonny who later became her husband. While there, she decided on a whim to take up stripping as a hobby of sorts. She was working at an ad agency and got a promotion. The job wore her ragged and was something she did not particularly care for. It demanded organization which is something at which she was not very good. Eventually, she quit her day job with Jonny's blessings and began stripping full-time. She then took up work as a phone-sex operator before returning to stripping. Shortly thereafter she decided to quit stripping and she and Jonny married. They moved to what she refers to as "the 'burbs, and no one strips unless they're taking a bubble bath." Her stepdaughter was the flower girl in the wedding.

Since then, their sound has evolved into progressive acoustic music, but they're calling it quits. Hear Nickel Creek recorded live in concert in one of the band's final performances together. Nickel Creek still features its original three members: Sean Watkins on guitar, his sister Sara Watkins on fiddle and mandolin player Chris Thile. The trio met and began playing together in San Diego. Thile and Sara Watkins were just eight years old, while Sean Watkins was 12. I first heard Chris Thile play when I was in Telluride for the 2004 Bluegrass Festival. I was so excited to see such a fabulous mandolin player!
